41st Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz

The Alpine playground of elegance. By day: snow polo and pristine slopes. By night: champagne soirées and candlelit chalets. St. Moritz embodies glamour against a mountain backdrop.

Each January, the glittering resort of St. Moritz transforms into the world capital of polo, as the Snow Polo World Cup returns to its birthplace on the frozen lake. From 23–25 January 2026, the tournament celebrates its 41st edition, bringing together the world’s finest players and horses for three unforgettable days of high-goal polo, luxury, and Alpine spectacle.

Since its world premiere here in 1985, St. Moritz has remained the only venue to host a high-goal tournament on snow. What began as a daring experiment has since become the pinnacle of snow polo worldwide, inspiring tournaments from Aspen to Cortina, yet none rival the prestige, prize money, and atmosphere of the original. Each year, six international teams compete for the coveted Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz Trophy before an audience of more than 25,000 spectators.

The tournament is as much about glamour as it is about sport. Guests enjoy world-class hospitality, social events in the Engadin Valley’s luxury hotels, and a vibrant après-polo scene that captures the spirit of St. Moritz itself: tradition, elegance, and cosmopolitan flair. The unique conditions of playing at 1,850 metres above sea level demand courage, dexterity, and endurance from both rider and horse, making victory here especially hard won.

From its origins in ancient Persia to its arrival in St. Moritz in 1899 and its modern-day global expansion, polo has always carried an air of sophistication. Yet it is on the frozen lake of St. Moritz that the sport reaches its most dramatic and refined expression.

A blend of speed, heritage and spectacle that has no equal.
